UIS Softphone
UIS is a business communications platform. Design of a calling application.

Goals
- Redesign the Softphone — a corporate calling application
- Align the design with the UIS design system
- Design new features and usage scenarios
Implementation
An iterative approach to the redesign
We planned the transition in two stages to avoid abrupt changes in the user interface: first we improved the UX, then the UI.
In the final version the entire UIS product line looks consistent, and the design elements are part of a component base. This simplifies maintenance — change one component and it updates across all products.

Statistics section
We removed unnecessary elements and emphasized the important ones so users can easily find their way around the interface.

Recents section
We added flexible column configuration, bulk operations on records and improved tagging.

Extending functionality based on research and testing
- We added outgoing number selection for calls — this improvement was also natively integrated into the standard customer dashboard.
- We added custom statuses so they match clients’ business processes.

Results
- An improved, more modern Softphone design
- Functionality that covers all client needs for making calls and basic call handling
